Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about the Master’s Office and our services.

No. Master Assistance Services is a private legal division of Louwrens Koen Attorneys. We are not affiliated with the Office of the Master of the High Court or the Department of Justice. We assist clients in dealing with the Master’s Office, but we are not part of it.
The Pretoria Master’s Office typically issues Letters of Executorship or Authority within 2 to 6 weeks of a complete lodgement, depending on current backlog. Our Master Runner service ensures your application is lodged correctly the first time, which avoids delays caused by rejections or missing documents.
Absolutely. Estates below the threshold value may qualify for Section 18(3) administration — a simplified, faster, and less expensive process. We assess your situation and if a Section 18(3) is appropriate, we handle the entire lodgement and collection process for a fixed fee starting at R2,500.
While our Master Runner service operates primarily at the Pretoria Master’s Office, we can assist clients from anywhere in South Africa. We can handle document preparation remotely and arrange for lodgement at any Master’s Office. For clients outside Gauteng, we also offer a courier and digital document submission service.
Yes. As a law firm, we are bound by attorney-client privilege and the Legal Practice Council’s confidentiality requirements. All client information is stored securely and never shared with third parties without your explicit consent. This applies to all services, including sensitive matters like rehabilitation and insolvency.
The Master Runner is our dedicated staff member who physically attends the Pretoria Master’s Office on your behalf. The Master’s Office only takes walk-ins until 13h00. Our runner arrives early, queues in the correct division (Estates, Trusts, Guardian’s Fund, Insolvency), lodges documents, collects letters, obtains status updates, and pays fees. You receive a same-day report. Available to the public and to other law firms.
Our fixed-fee services require a 50% deposit before document preparation begins, with the balance due before final handover. For monthly retainer packages (Executor Assist and Law Firm Partner), payment is by monthly debit order or EFT in advance. We do not offer payment plans for single-matter fees, but we can structure multi-phase billing for complex estates.
